Ten-17 Public File
Each local commercial radio station in the UK has requirements in respect of its music and local content, such as news, speech levels etc.
These requirements are set out in the station "Format", a document issued by Ofcom, the UK's radio regulator.
This Public File contains details of the elements that Ofcom regulate, such as music tracks, local news etc. It is intended to give you a better understanding of our output and what we are doing for our local community.

News Service:
News Bulletin Schedule including which bulletins provide local news and which provide only UK-wide bulletins:
Weekdays: Ten-17 broadcasts news bulletins on the half-hour between 0600 and 0900 and hourly at 1000 and from 1600 until 1800. These bulletins contain a mix of local, national and world stories, along with sport, weather and entertainment news.
Weekends: Ten-17 broadcasts bulletins containing local, national and world news are broadcast hourly between 0800 and 1200.
Additionally, national bulletins are broadcast from 1100 through until 1500 weekdays and 1900, 2200 through until 0500 seven days a week.
Ten-17 provides local travel bulletins on weekdays approximately every 15 minutes from 0615 until 0915 and approximately every 20 minutes from 1600 until 1845.

The programme schedule: Ten-17's programme schedule can be found here.
The average number of hours of automated programming within weekday daytimes and within daytimes on Saturdays and Sundays: There is an automated show on a Sunday between 1000hrs and 1200hrs. There is usually no automation on weekdays.
The amount of local programming per day produced by the station: Ten-17's weekday output from 0600hrs until 1000hrs and from 1300hrs until 1900 hrs is produced and presented from our Harlow studios.
Saturday and Sunday output from 0800hrs to 1200hrs is produced and presented from our Harlow studios.
Outside of these times, programming is produced at various studios, owned and operated by Ten-17's parent company Global Radio.

Ofcom, the government regulator with responsibilities for local radio, has produced localness guidelines that this station adheres to. These guidelines can be read here.
In addition all local radio stations have written "formats" that they must follow at all times. You can read ours here.
If you have a complaint to make about this station, in the first instance you should contact the Programme Controller at the address below. If you are unhappy with the response you receive, you can complain directly to the regulator, Ofcom. Their website has full details about how to do this.

Events/charities support or coverage: Ten-17 provides free publicity on air to charitable and non-profit making local events and organisations. We give extensive coverage to the Race For Life events in our area.
In 2008, we were the radio partner for the St Clare Hospice Midnight Walk. Ten-17 promoted the event extensively and provided a presence on the evening. Over £100,000 was raised for the hospice.
This year, we have also provided publicity for the Herts Air Ambulance Appeal, providing coverage of some of their events.
Our Thunder promotional vehicles also attend many charity events.
