David Hockney: Six Tales from the Brothers Grimm (Community)

A unique opportunity to see a major touring exhibition in the Thorleybourne Gallery.

In this exhibition of etchings illustrating the six fairy tales from the Brothers Grimm, Hockney has given each fairy tale his own quirky and often humorous interpretation. Rather than illustrating the stories literally, he has chosen vivid images to encapsulate a mood or detail. Some of the tales are familiar, like Rapunzel and Rumpelstilzchen; others, such as Old Rinkrank, Fundevogel and The Little Sea Hare are little known.

The 39 etchings were drawn directly onto copper plates by Hockney between May and November 1969 (a decade in which etching featured strongly for Hockney).

St Clare Hospice Christmas Fayre (Community)

All the usual Crafts, Cakes and Raffles. Other stalls including jewellery and Wooden toys will be present with refreshments on sale throughout the day. Saturday 21st November from 11am until 3pm £1.00 entry for adults children under 16 free.

Science Alive Spectacular (Family)

FREE Hands on interactive family science event with a Space theme. Science Alive will be bringing their planetarium. Astrium EAD will be bringing a balloon rocket workshop for children. Astronomers will be talking about Space. Stewards students and Science Teachers/Ambassadors will be help the children with lots of hands on interactive workshops. Fun for all ages.

The Ware "Lights of Love" ceremony will be taking place at Van Hage Garden Centre. Isabel Hospice have eight ceremonies in the east Herts area. There will be a short Carol Service followed by countdown to lighting the tree. Donations will be made and lights will be lit in memory of loved ones at Christmas.
