Old Harlow Farmers Market (Community)

Location:High Street Old Harlow CM17 0DN

Old Harlow High Street is the place to be on the third Saturday of the month as Essex Farmers Markets set up shop to offer a tempting range of organic and ethical foods. With the nights drawing in and an Autumn nip in the air, Farmers Markets are the place to buy earthy organic winter vegetables along with ethically reared meats to create the perfect stew eaten with gorgeous crusty warm bread. Finish with traditional cheese and biscuits, with tangy cheeses from Wobbly Bottom Farm being, a true winter feast! So, for a change, take a break from the drudgery of the supermarket and take in the sights and aromas that can only be experienced by shopping in the open air.

David Hockney: Six Tales from the Brothers Grimm (Community)

Location:Bishop's Stortford Museum

Time:10:00:00 to 17:00:00

A unique opportunity to see a major touring exhibition in the Thorleybourne Gallery.

In this exhibition of etchings illustrating the six fairy tales from the Brothers Grimm, Hockney has given each fairy tale his own quirky and often humorous interpretation. Rather than illustrating the stories literally, he has chosen vivid images to encapsulate a mood or detail. Some of the tales are familiar, like Rapunzel and Rumpelstilzchen; others, such as Old Rinkrank, Fundevogel and The Little Sea Hare are little known.

The 39 etchings were drawn directly onto copper plates by Hockney between May and November 1969 (a decade in which etching featured strongly for Hockney).
